Grand Massif and Les Carroz When most people think of skiing in France they usually think of The Three Valleys or Chamonix. The Grand Massif is often overlooked as a destination and therein lays its charm. The Grand Massif comprises Flaine, a large natural skiing arena, and the valleys containing Les Carroz, Samoens, Morillon and Sixt, which have more predominantly tree lined pistes. You can ski to all these villages from the Les Carroz pistes and I will concentrate on Les Carroz as this is where our apartment is located.   Les Carroz offers sanctuary in the evenings for skiers to enjoy good food and drink while still retaining a village atmosphere. Les Carroz is not short on amenities, it has all you could want in a mountain village. 3 minimarts, numerous restaurants and bars, hire shops and clothes shops, leisure centre and swimming pool complex, creches and a bank, it even has a skate park.
